HOW TO FIND US & WHERE TO PARK:

Lara Downs' new retail outlet is located on the Mezzanine Floor of Calico House on the corner of Brunswick St and Leicester St Fitzroy. Enter the front door of Calico House (faces onto Brunswick St) and take the internal staircase towards the front of the store.

Leicester Steet, runs parallel to & is three blocks south of Alexandra Parade, which leads onto the Eastern Freeway. Meter parking is available for 1 & 2 hours in nearby streets, but there is long term free parking in Alexandra Parade between Brunswick St and George St, both on the side of the road and in the median strip opposite the Fitzroy Swimming pool. This is just a short walk to the store.

If approaching from the south (city end) & heading north down Brunswick St, our new location is five blocks down Brunswick St, from our old location in Victoria St (off Brunswick St).

Google Maps is an easy way to guide you if you're uncertain how to find us. Just go to Google and click on Maps, then enter Leicester St Fitzroy and look for the Brunswick St intersection. You can even click on the street view, but we look a lot better than the current image there, as our new neighbours next door have now taken down their hoardings !

The Brunswick Street shopping precinct is also well served by trams, with trams going right past our door. From the city, catch a Number 112 tram in Collins St. This will take you right to Brunswick St where you need to get off at stop number 17.

Attendance at One Off Special Events :

The Bendigo Sheep Show is always on our schedule. The dates for 2010 are Friday 16th to Sunday 18th July. Our regular stall is in Osborne Hall, Site No 5. This is a fabulous fibre art & craft event. Refer to the Sheep Show web site for more details.

Geelong Fibre Forum in September is also another regular event for us. We will be there in Trades Hall at the Geelong Grammar School. Visit 9-5pm Thurs/Fri or 9 till 12 noon SAT. Dates coming soon for 2010.

We also attend a great market day at the Brunswick Town Hall, organised by the Knitters Guild. This is usually around the end of May. Thanks Knitter's Guild for an enjoyable and very popular event with knitters.

Lara Downs yarns also featured at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2010. Our mohair yarns were made available by Mohair Australia which runs a mohair shop in the Goat and Pig pavilion throughout the show. Given that our yarns proved very popular, we hope they will be available again through this outlet in 2011.

There is also a selection of Wearable art pieces for sale at Precious Purl, which provide a constantly changing array of gorgeous models to see and maybe buy or just inspire. Above is a section of a fabulous felted wrap by Pam Hovel, recently added to our collection. The inset panels are made of silk muslin hand dyed using natural materials.
