Viewbank Angoras was first registered as a stud in 1984.

Breeding has been continuous since then.

We showed our animals regularly in the early days and collected large number of ribbons.

However today we concentrate more on commercial aspects of mohair production and rarely show, due to our concerns about the distortion of breeding objectives which shows tend to encourage.

Having begun life on Viewbank Farm, it was later relocated to Lara Downs so that we could expand our operation.
Viewbank's 250 breeding does, their kids plus approximately 100 wethers and of course our very special bucks, make up the herd's composition today. Starting with just 9 goats, this is certainly a business that grows on you!

Our breeding directions have always been strongly focused on growing fine, soft handling, kemp free fibre, while maintaining large, sound, well conformed animals.

Objective measurement has been used extensively to aid selection & to ensure that breeding objectives are being achieved.

Our Production page details the achievements of our stud so far.

A new addition to the farm during 2007 - some alpaca wethers to assist in guarding the herd. Their fleece will also come in handy.
